There is no shortage of traditionalists who have lamented the rise—and subsequent domination—of the short video. It’s hard to argue against what the short vid has been able to accomplish, though. It requires a certain level of pointedness. There’s a, let’s cut the B.S. and get to the good stuff, attitude that comes with a short video. And looking at the list of nominees this year, it's clear that the B.S. was non-existent, and the good stuff was plentiful.

FRUIT FLY: What this crew was able to accomplish in only a month is truly impressive. We shouldn’t be surprised, with a squad this stacked, clips seem to be a dime a dozen. Add in the quick turnaround time, and “Fruit Fly” cemented its place on this list before the snow even melted last year.
ATLAS 2: Both in entertainment and snowboarding, navigating a sequel is hard. How do you give the people what they liked about the original without beating a dead horse? With “Atlas 2” the answer was simple: elevate the new gen. From the moment Cooper hopped on that opening fifty, we knew we were in for something special. Something worth remembering.
SWARM: Rome is on a comeback tour for the ages: new pickups, new graphics, and of course, a team vid. “Swarm” is a perfect example of a brand placing their trust in its riders. And frankly, we’re glad Rome had that trust. Besides, when Derek Lemke enters the screen, you pay attention.
HEAD UNDER WATER: Sam Anderson handles every spot with the kind of precision that only makes sense once you realize he’s an engineer. Pair that with two of the hungriest up-and-comers we’ve seen in a while, and what you have left is nothing short of magnificent. Through trials and tribulations, the crew prevailed, showing that even when it feels like you’re drowning, filming with the homies is always good for the soul.
CURVEBALL: It’s hard enough for a brand to produce one successful video, let alone two. But that’s exactly what 686 did. Keegan and BMO drop cliffs, pillow lines, and jaws as they prove pow vids can bring just as much hype as street ones.
BUSTER 2: It seems to be the year of the sequel, and with their second offering, the Buster squad hasn’t slowed down a bit. This one felt old school: good vibes, rap music, and park shoots. Shoutout to the homies for keeping the stoke alive.
