“Don’t judge a book by its cover” is antithetical to what we, as snowboarders, have always believed. To live by that saying is to dismiss all the great covers throughout history. I will not do that; covers deserve their due, even when they’re catalog covers, like Salomon’s was this year. Think about it, Louif on a cloudy Quebec day putting heels through that Layne Treeter rainbow rail from Half-Off. And while it’s easy (common?) to be blinded by Lou’s greatness, let’s not forget why we’re really here…we got boards to look at, don’t we?

Speaking of Louif, his signature model of the Hillside Project board is a freeride (and freestyle)/powder hybrid. I suppose this makes sense considering Louif is no stranger to hybrid spots. And while this beast of a board is directional and leaning more towards the stiffer side, it still seems like a blast to play with, whether on the hill or in the backcountry.

Let’s change lanes a bit and talk about the District Pro binding. More specifically, the District Pro x Dustbox colab. The District Pro was a brainchild of the Salomon team, so it makes sense that this colab would exist. This binding is already a team favorite for it’s support, responsiveness, and most importantly, comfortability. Add on a colab with one of the sickest crews in snowboarding, and this is starting to look like a no-brainer.
