It’s a cliché to call somebody nice, especially in the intro to an interview. When you call somebody nice, you’re not really digging deep into the adjective department. Most of the time, you’re just phoning it in. I’m only telling you this because I want you to know that I’m aware of the implications of that word, and still, I choose to call Noah Coville nice. And I truly want you to believe me. Sometimes, a word just makes sense for the person, and there’s nothing you can do about it. I’ve known Noah for half a decade at this point, and he’s been nothing but funny, sweet, and kind. At spots, he’s helpful. He’s always there with a shovel or standing patiently behind the camera. He’s so much of a behind-the-scenes help that you can almost forget how much of a unit he is when he finally straps in. But then he does strap in. And very quickly, you remember.
Dude, how are you?
I’m pretty good. I’m going a little crazy on this boat.
For the folks at home, what are you up to? Where are you?
I’m in southeast Alaska. I’m near Haines—Lynn Canal is what it’s called. I’m working on a tender boat. It’s me and my friend Harry, who’s actually from Vermont. He’s running the boat, and my friend Josiah was working on it too for half the season. But yeah, we’re pretty much just running around and buying fish from fishermen and transporting it back to the cannery in Haines.
So, you’re not fishing yourself?
No, our boat isn’t an actual fishing boat. We pretty much just buy and transport fish for the fishing boats.
Oh, you middleman.
Middleman.
Ok, let’s talk about winter. How was this past one we just came out of? How did that go for you guys?
It went pretty good. I mean, it was definitely the most filming that I’ve been able to do. It was the first time having a real budget where we were able to kind of go where we wanted to, more or less. It opened up a lot of places that we were able to go to chase the snow.
For the people who may not know, what were you filming for?
It was a Rome video. Joey [Leon]—it was kind of his vision. He pitched it to them. So, shout out Joey for getting the ball rolling. Unfortunately, he had an injury right off the bat, so he wasn’t really able to snowboard at all this year. But he still tagged along and did a lot of the filming for the first half of the season until he got surgery.
What was the premise for this video? Was it an AM video or is it just a straight-up team video, or what is it?
Yeah, it’s a team video. Most of us are AMs. Besides—I mean, Maggie filmed for a bit of the year with us, and then Lolo joined for a little bit at the end as well, and they’re both on the pro team. But besides that, we’re all AM.
Who’s the crew?
So it was Joey, like I said, myself, Casey Savage, Micah, my brother, and then Drake [Warner], Derek [Lemke], and Conner [Kavanaugh]. Also, like I said, Maggie and Lolo, and then Poly from Canada as well.
Damn, that’s a sick crew. Was this your first full year on Rome, or were you on it all last year too?
I was on all last year.
Ok, well, how was it though with some of the new faces, like having someone like Derek coming in and filming with you guys?
It was awesome linking up with Derek. He started getting boards partway through the season, and I heard about that and was a big fan of his snowboarding, obviously. He was fucking insane. And then we were heading to Cincinnati from Syracuse, and I just DMed him on Instagram. I was like, Yo, let’s freaking link. If you’re down, you’re getting boards, fucking send it. He drove out alone to Cincinnati and met us there, and the first thing we filmed of him was fucking insane.

That’s sick. He drove out alone. I didn’t know that. What a legend.
Yeah, none of us had met him. Obviously, we know Drake, and Drake is good friends with him.
I mean, it seems like it meshed well. From what I saw of you guys out there?
It went really well, and we all got along. We filmed with him, and he kind of stuck with us for the rest of that trip, which was a couple more weeks. We ended up going to West Virginia after that, and he came with us. Then he went home after that, but he and Drake flew out about two weeks later for the next trip. That’s when Drake joined us, and then Drake stuck with us for the whole end of the filming.
And then how did you do this year?
I’m pretty hyped on how my clips came out. I feel like at the end of the year you’re always kind of reflecting, obviously thinking of things you wish you did or could have done, or spots you got kicked out of and whatnot. But it’s the first year where I feel like I truly filmed a part for myself, which is pretty exciting. And I think the same for Micah. I mean, just getting to do that with him, it was awesome.
That’s probably special.
Yeah.
Did you pick up a lot of the filming slack once Joey left?
Yeah, for sure. After he had to get surgery, he let me take his camera for second angles, and I pretty much did the majority of filming with the help of everyone else. Micah also did a lot of the filming for this video.
Is Joey editing it, or are you?
I’m not really sure how it will all play out yet, but right now Joey, myself, and Devin Bernard are all bouncing ideas off each other. I don’t think I’ll do too much of the editing, to be honest, but more just giving ideas and input and trying to make it the best video possible.
And finally, what’s up for this year? Another Rome vid, or going back to filming on the East Coast with the homies?
Hopefully running it back again! That being said, I love making the homie videos, and I definitely want to do more of that in the future.
