There’s a secret list in snowboarding. It’s not laminated. It’s not written down. It’s not even passed around in group chats. But it exists. It’s the list of rare life-altering achievements in snowboarding. Somewhere near the top of that list is getting the call from Travis Rice to join an Alaska trip.
Estelle Pensiero got that call last winter. Not a prank. Not a group text mishap compromising national security. The zone in question may have haunted the dreams of mere mortals ever since it appeared in The Fourth Phase—a face so visually magical, it was dubbed “The Wizard”. Magical in both name and shape, the line is a mix of steep spines, floating pillows, and enough exposure to make your palms sweat just thinking about it.
“Travis invited me to come to Alaska with him. It was my first time. The mountains and the glaciers were so beautiful it was overwhelming.
Travis told me about a face that he rode in “The Fourth Phase”… the wizard!
It had never been ridden by a woman.
With every line that I rode, I kept the wizard in the back of my mind.
After a few days, everything lined up perfectly and I rode the line of my dreams.”
Now, getting the invite is one thing. Showing up and actually dropping in? Different beast. Estelle didn’t just show up. She stomped lines with poise, rode the wizard with power, and carved her name into the mountains that raised half the riders we revere today.
Some people manifest their dreams. Others take a helicopter to them and ride them like they were born for it.
