Phil Hansen started things off with a crazy move - the elusive backside 5050 to fs 180 out. His thinking - What might sound like a basic trick might actually be hard for someone as technical as Garrett Mckenzie. Well, that didn't work as Garrett easily matched it. After that, Phil didn't have much of a plan and gave up the set position to Garrett. While Phil (who most would consider a powder rider) could probably actually hold his own on the majority of technical rail tricks, Garrett started opening up his trick book that he’s been honing on the ropes of the midwest for years. His tricks were deeply technical and extremely consistent, which would set his pace for the remainder of the day. He quickly mopped the floors with Phil and we moved on.
