Barely Made It is an extensive and intimate documentation of snowboarding during the 1990's and 2000's as captured by a photographer on the front lines as riding culture went from being a fringe tribe of fun seekers to becoming a full fledged cultural phenomena. A must read for those who pine for the days when rules were bent, barriers were broken and lifelong bonds created. With stellar photography, insightful words and an overall "remember when" vibe Barely Made It is a worthy addition to every snowboarders bookcase.

From humble beginnings, snowboarding grew into a global sports juggernaut in a few short decades. For those involved, it was more than a sport. It was a lifestyle, a movement that had its roots in skateboarding and surfing. Initially powered by core media magazines and videos, showcasing the best freestyle riding from backcountry to competitions in every edition, a plethora of new brands and events had entered the scene by the mid-nineties. In less than a decade, prize money had grown from hundreds of dollars to hundreds of thousands, crowd sizes had grown from tens to tens of thousands, and the party seemed to get bigger and better. In real terms, it was hardcore Rock'n'Roll!

Entering this maelstrom, firstly as a photographer and then as a cinematographer, was Patrick 'Brusti' Armbruster. Equally at home shooting the gnarliest backcountry kicker to capturing off-mountain escapades, he had the privilege to travel the world and become friends with many of the best snowboarders of the era, such as Michi Albin, Terje Haakonsen, Travis Rice, Nicolas Müller, Gigi Rüf, Wolle Nyvelt, Romain de Marchi, Trevor Andrew, and many more.

As a senior photographer at Onboard Magazine and co-founder of Absinthe Films, Patrick documented the times and tribulations with his analog camera along the way. After two decades of maintaining a photo archive, Barely Made It is an uncensored, behind-the-scenes look at the heady years of snow-boarding, through the lens of one of snowboarding's most respected protagonists.

Each page is supported by rider statements, with a foreword by Drew Stevenson who is the former editor in chief of both Onboard & Method Magazine as well as a founder of the TTR Tour.
